Walk for life : a peer supported exercise group model
The Walk for Life program involved people with dementia, volunteers (some of whom have dementia) and others taking part in walking groups.
This document describes al the steps involved in organising a walking group – it includes a project plan; flow charts of recruitment of participants ; evaluation framework; pre program survey; medical clearance ; fridge reminders ; walking diaries; physical activity diary; training ; peer support training ; procedures ; walking safety audit; attendance sheet ; emergency contacts summary; pre and post fitness measures ; mid and end program cluster group questions. This would be a very useful tool in developing your own walking group or a similar type of group.
